Wisteria - Nakhtmin - 11/7/2025

Nakhtmin was a bloodied warrior, yes, but this did not bar him from being also an appreciator of beauty.

The place where they camped was, in simple words, heavenly. Flowers he had never seen before grew on trees like a blanket of nectar. Royally dark purple and lotus white and every shade between. Some passing herdbeasts had warned him they were not safe to eat, so he appreciated the blossoms only without.

He followed his sacred charge now through a denser patch of magnificently painted woodland, happily bound to her whims, and wished only that she had not chosen a place with so many low hanging branches to explore! His spears were tangled in flower-laden vines, which he found a flattering laurel except that they occasionally entrapped him and required a great tossing of the head to break free.

But he was Nakhtmin! Flowers could not halt him in his goings! Petals and leaves rained down all over the forest floor as the trees rustled. My Princess, I start to believe you brought us here only to amuse yourself in watching me battle these blossoms! He rumbled a laugh. A long strand of Wisteria fell over his forehead as he did so.

RE: Wisteria - Neferseba - 11/7/2025

a bit of mischief, from her—but not ill intended! the young Satiset quite enjoyed a good game of “dress up”, and today her unwitting participant was none other than her favored Mazoi. she quite adored her dearest Nakhtmin—he was fierce always when it counted. but she recollected fondly the days when she was much, much smaller and he was as big as the most daunting of mountains to scale and he patiently allowed her to scale him. and then, having the further patience to allow her to crow proudly between his horns (right next to his ears) that she was the mighty Neferseba!
he was kindest to her, above the rest of her siblings; a girl among three rowdy boys ought to be resilient, and she was!, but only she had successfully scaled mount Nakhtmin to the top.
she heard the rustling of wisteria behind her. at last she turned to look over her shoulder, and saw his prongs sufficiently decorated! Satiset let out a happy noise, that was quick to become laughter as he spoke. well, you look valiant in your victory, Mazoi! I do not even need to give you a garland—you have made one yourself! came her delighted words. and then she marveled at the path he had made with a gasp. look at this! no finer path has ever been seen! oh! did you know that would happen? did you do that for me?! she looked to a nearby fellahin with a little laugh. wherever she walked, there were flowers in her wake—there might come to be a rumor that where she moved, flowers bloomed. her imagination again ran wild with the idea, and she smiled; Satiset would know the truth of the retelling of the scribe. well, I must walk upon it, then, she decided with a wagging plume; she would not insult him by ignoring his beautiful work.
she could not remember then a childhood memory when she was but a babe, where she had believed such a thing to be truth! she had delighted in “her own” magic—it was always her people that helped her conjure it.
she moved to the walkway of wisteria, smiling happily at him. her Nakhtmin!
he, as wolves and predators were, was also a killing thing—she had never seen prey, or something soft, when looking upon him. he was far more likely to wield his weapons than she herself was, after all! even the flowers upon his horns did nothing to change that—it was the very picture of irony. like flowers on a knife. you could never miss the literal sharp end of it, so stark beside something truly soft. herself… the flowers.
still, though, you look most magnificent, Mazoi, she informed him happily. and then she thought of her dearest Osiris—she thrilled at the idea of wisteria, tangled prettily within his mane!

I love her so much lol

His chest broadened a little with pride at her compliment, half because he believed it, and half to humour her. An indulgent grin was offered, Hmm. I will wear your favour proudly, then, goddess, and rain adorations upon you. Another shake of his head sent more petals fluttering down, speckling her fur like a second dappled sunlight.

Of her siblings he had felt she was the truest warrior among them, for it was confidence and resilience one required to win battles, and these she did not lack. Whether she climbed great summits or wrapped hardened warriors around her tail with clever manners, the young goddess had shown herself to be unflappable in all pursuits. He anticipated her will being no easy thing to deny.

And while others in her employ laughed tepidly about their fears of adolescence upon her making her mischief into contrariness and ill-temper, Nakhtmin found in himself only anticipation of any such day. A young thing growing into her horns ought to test them! And know she was strong! He recalled fondly the arrogance of his own youth, how every lesson could belong solely to himself in those days. He wished her the joy of it!

But that did not mean he was eager to be gone with her innocence. These were fast fading days, like flowers in rain-season, and he would enjoy them for all that they offered. He followed her tamely, tail swishing, and rumbled, Your mother might be pleased with an offering of blossoms, to perfume the camp with.

At the very least, Nakhtmin would be pleased with it.

Shall I lift you to collect the best of them? It was not particularly dignified to be clambering about, but he firmly believed that a divine princess should be above any criticism on the matter. If she was agile, she could from his crest scale to the wending low branches, and perhaps be blessed also with findings of unusual feathers, or strange insects.

she could not help the giggle that came from her throat as petals begun to spiral and swirl around her as they did rain down—she danced beneath his shower of flowers, grinning up at him as she did!
spinning elegantly on her heel and sweeping her tail in a long flourish, more wisteria was sent askance around them in a dizzying flurry, and now her laugh became much more full-throated as her lips parted to bring sound to her joy.
Satiset nodded to his words, humming, how brilliant your mind is, Mazoi! you know Her well—and, you know, it would please me, too, she decided with a slow nod,
and his suggestion earned a delighted gasp! she seemed to think for only a moment—but her thoughts aligned with his own. she was a Goddess above reproach—and she wished to get the most beautiful of blooms… and what else might she find up there?!
you shall, she all but sings back! another laugh, and she is thinking now of the gift she might find for him up on high!

She was a beautiful dancer! He let out a, Hmm, of approval, and by the end of her free-spirited laugh had pulled a deep bellowing chuckle from him in turn, no less sincere.

Neferseba would grow up to break many hearts, of that he was certain. He could not imagine any being worthy of her grace and charm! They would certainly have to earn Nakhtmin's approval to stay in her presence, and he would make this no easy task.

At her agreement, he lowered his head, to make climbing atop him an easy task. When she was settled between his spears and laurel crown, he would lift her high with great stretch of his mighty neck. If you are careful, you might even claim a view of the treetops above, as the baboons do!, he encouraged, and thought with amusement of Imenet who was not a baboon, but still seemed close enough to him.
