horus breathing ☥ - Khaemwaset - 12/14/2025

phoenix.
into the desert she had gone. khaemwaset was tired of waiting. in a matter of hours would he command sapair to give the order, that their caravan be prepared to remove themselves south once more, and curse the wasting heat.
his face had healed to scars still fading, but his wrath was unabated. when they had settled, pharaoh chose, he would send forth to other directions in search of the tribute that might support satriya's great aim.
phoenix rising!
heart called, spirit sang; lips twitched in a frenzy of muttered prayers.

She calls to him, her Pharoah. A howl which would carry through the heated air past miles of golden rolling sand which she ran. She would return to him, to her great empire that was Satriya, in time, for she had not far to go now.

When she did come, it would be with the gathering of her people, readying themselves for travel. She would pass them by, offering a smile to any who drew near to her, though her path would lead her straight to Khaemwaset.

Pharoah... Her front half lowering before him in bow. Her sea and sun eyes dancing briefly over the features of his face to take note of recent scars there. She wonders what happen, but does not ask. He would tell if he felt the need.

khaemwaset heard her, and the relief was tenfold. unminding who might see or hear, he called back, shining dark ears atilt then to attend in case of a reply. they milled; the gilt glory and coiffed sheen of their faces blurred as he turned all his attention upon the priestess. hemet, said pharaoh, reining himself at the last moment lest he boast and prance with boyish joy to have her returned.
he did not speak of what had gone on, only; i am ready to return. all of satriya is restless. is it time?
khaemwaset dared not hope;
he only waited.
all the empire and all aims and even the sum of happiness could be better sought from the font itself, but he did not allow himself to anticipate such a feeling.

It was only two full moons since she had last spoken to her Pharoah and yet her stomach flips to be reunited with the god-king once more as he speaks to her. Her eyes turn to the length of his legs, then chest, the stark of his dark coat like a black hole one might easily see themselves sucked into. Each of his people gravitating to him without thought or consequence.

When he finishes speaking, it was then that she lifts herself once again. A great Pharoah who knew what he wanted and wanted it now. He had waited long enough. It is time, Great One. She had survived her time there and even with another, too. Pheonix wondered if Hiba would still be there upon her return. If they both still lived, surely it was safe. The priestess would need to disregard any ounce of hesitance she might feel otherwise.

ah! grasping a passing fellahin, khaemwaset declared, inform the queen Merneith that we are leaving. then seek Sapair and tell him. or wait, laughing, first the jodai, then the queen.
letting the other go, pharaoh turned back in triumph to phoenix rising. you will be hemet-netjer. you will oversee our marriage, and then you will hold the title of Godswife until a daughter of the throne is ready to wear it.
his teeth glowed; his eyes gleamed in the way of scented oil. i am pleased. delighted. you have my favor, priestess.
for an iota of time, he considered, then swept on, filled with the glory of satriya's return to their true seat.

Khaemwaset's excitement evidant, his laughter contagious. What doubts held in the woman who felt herself inadequate against those of many years in the temple are fluttered into the breeze in these moments. She is smiling again, a laughter of her own escaping as he addressed one of the fellahin to give word to prepare their way.

Then, swinging his attention back to her, he speaks sudden words of elevation in her name and Pheonix Rising's front half falls once more just as suddenly at the realization. She cannot help it, that even as she bows before her Pharoah as he speaks, granting her the honor of title and the honor of her (her!!) wedding the royal pair, her plume is high and waving behind her in joyousness.

I... A hesitance, only for her heart pounding so heavily in her chest. Breathless. You honor me deeply, Great One. I haven't the words...

She is lifting, her ears swept back, lashes fluttering as she bats away gloosy vision. A smile, deep to the young man who flashes teeth of full grin. The pheonix is exalted and she is struck, looking to his face perhaps a moment longer then she should have until it is broken by his dismissal. She could not fail her people. She could not fail Pharoah.
