The journey to her den in the Goldenwood was not a long one, yet Kirain kept a close eye on her companions all the same. Worry simmered quietly in her chest beneath the light of the blood moon. Though the forest was calm, the crimson glow it cast made her uneasy. With a small shake of her pelt, she pushed the thought aside and refocused on the task at hand.
Elisabet and Senka were about to meet the little ones, a moment she and her husband had long looked forward to. The pups were their pride and joy, and Kirain hoped that this meeting would nurture the sense of community she dreamed of for Camhanaich. Bonds built on trust and warmth, never force.
Stopping just outside the den, she glanced back at her guests with a reassuring smile.
I’ll be right back, she said softly before slipping inside.
There she found her mate tending to their pups, all well and content. Relief eased her chest; she trusted Lestan completely, yet the lingering anxiety of being away from her children never truly faded.
Lestan, little ones, she called gently, voice brimming with affection.
I have some people I’d really like you to meet. Come now.
With gentle nudges, she urged the three pups forward until they peeked out into the open air. Beaming with pride, Kirain stood over them, her tail wagging merrily.
I’d like to introduce you to Eilidh, Saorlaith, and Faolán,she said brightly, glancing toward her husband with a fond smile.
And, of course, Lestan.
